PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring that Tekapo Springs & Tekapo Stargazing' property and assets are monitored, maintained, operational and safe. In particular using your experience to help us maintain, monitor, trouble shoot, diagnose issues, and assist with preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance through our facility. Provide supervision to maintenance team and be maintenance managers 2IC on managers rostered days off. Ensuring staff and contractor induction and training complies with NOP’s. Key Accountabilities Supervision & Leadership · When required assist with rosters and ensuring these are followed to ensure compliance with budget and that the needs of the business unit are met. · Set a great example for the rest of the team demonstrating the values of Tekapo Springs. · Supervise and monitor employed and contracted staff assigned to maintenance to ensure that maintenance is carried out according to operational requirements. · Provide frequent, clear and consistent feedback to the Maintenance team. · Develop and agree with the maintenance manager training requirements for the maintenance team, ensuring staff are fully compliant with H+S, NOP and other relevant requirements. Policies, Procedures & Administration · Support the maintenance manager to create and update appropriate operational policies and procedures to facilitate optimal use of all property and plant. · Support the maintenance manager to keep relevant maintenance documents up to date. · Advise your manager when you believe that policies and procedures are not applicable, optimal or are out of date and recommend changes. · Provide supervision and training where needed to maintenance and wider staff enabling them to fully understand and comply with policies, procedures and best practices. Plant and Property Management · Support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring that all Tekapo Springs assets are clean, functional and presented to high standards meeting international standards and public health requirements. · In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager supervise the completion of our preventative maintenance schedule to high standard while minimizing impact on commercial operations. · Support the Maintenance Manager in designing and implementing all maintenance programmes to minimize disruption to commercial services. · Support the Maintenance Manager and General Manager to ensure we are operating as efficiently as possible, minimizing waste and being environmentally friendly. · Support the Maintenance Manager to ensure all computerised control systems are effective, fully operational and up to date. Equipment, Machinery & Vehicles · Support and contribute to the development of a maintenance plan to monitor and manage all equipment, machinery and vehicles on site. · Support the Maintenance Manager in liaising with suppliers and contractors to ensure requirements for new or upgraded equipment, machinery or vehicles is met and within budget. · Contribute to the updating of detailed records for all Tekapo Springs maintenance projects and plans. · Support the Maintenance Manager and General Manager to create and implement an inventory, replacement and upgrade programme for Tekapo Springs & Tekapo Stargazing equipment, vehicles and machinery. · Support the Maintenance Manager and General Manager and wider teams to ensure the availability of vehicles and equipment is optimised. Other · Carry out any other responsibilities as may be reasonably required from time to time. · Ensure the company’s best interests are served at all times. Health & Safety · Lead by example adhering to all company Health & Safety policies as well as the standards of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and other relevant legislation or industry standards. · Take every precaution to ensure the company's property, machinery, vehicle and plant management policies and procedures result in a safe work-place for staff and customers. · Where needed utilise contractors and external operators ensuring that work is carried out in line with our Health & Safety requirements. · Contribute towards ensuring that our risk records are updated and accurate for all elements relating to Maintenance. · Follow hazard identification processes for Tekapo Springs and ensure they are adhered to at all times. · Support the Maintenance Manager to ensure that security, gas safety, chemical agent and fire systems are in place, functioning and are regularly reviewed and maintained. · Support the provision of basic Health & Safety training for all operational and customer service staff. Key Relationships External 1. Suppliers 2. Contractors Purpose of relationship 1. To obtain the equipment and resources required for the improvement and operation of our facilities. 2. Ensuring required tasks are completed and that Health & Safety procedures are adhered to. Internal 1. General Manager 2. Finance 3. Activities 4. Maintenance Manager Purpose of relationship 1. Keeping the GM informed about general goings on in the business and future. 2. Support cyclical leadership activities, H+S material reviews (hazard registers and policies), NOP’s, team reviews and budgets requirements. 3. Liaise on maintenance changes, checks and activity to manage potential disruption to activities. 4. Ensuring Maintenance purchases are made in correct budget categories and limits. 5. Ensure consistent procedures are followed to keep the facility operating at a high level. 6. Ensuring clear communication on the accomplishment of your role. Knowledge And Skills Essential 1. Team leadership – has acted at supervisor level for 3+ years in relevant industry / environment 2. A high level of comfort with training others. 3. Confident and experienced with a wide variety of tools & equipment. 4. Able to drive a variety of vehicles. 5. Refrigeration experience. Desirable 1. Experience operating in the tourism industry. 2. W, T, R licence endorsement. 3. High level understanding of pool facilities. 4. Experience working with a refrigeration plant.
