Ma Maison is a refined yet relaxed dining destination in the heart of Akaroa, inspired by French hospitality and a love of quality food, wine, and service. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bar Manager to lead our bar operations and elevate our guest experience. This will be working alongside the Restaurant Manager and F&B Director. We are a growing hospitality group and looking to expand further!
The RoleAs Bar Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the bar, overseeing beverage service, leading and training staff, and curating a drinks offering that complements our menu and atmosphere. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a premium hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all bar operations, including service standards, workflow, and presentation
- Lead, train, and motivate bar staff to deliver warm, professional service
- Create and maintain a high-quality beverage offering, including cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options
- Manage stock control, ordering, supplier relationships, and inventory costs
- Ensure compliance with NZ licensing laws, host responsibility, and health & safety requirements
- Collaborate with the kitchen and management team to ensure seamless service
- Handle customer feedback with professionalism and care
- Assist with rostering and staff performance management when required
What We’re Looking For- Proven experience as a Bar Manager or Senior Bartender in a quality hospitality venue
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, wine, spirits, and beverage trends
- Confident leadership skills with a positive, team-focused approach
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards
- Current LCQ and Manager’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and peak seasonal periods
