About the role:
This role has two parts; a day-time housekeeping role and an evening/night role holding our after hours phone. As a housekeeper, you'll be leading the charge in keeping our hostel clean and tidy for guests to enjoy. This includes servicing facilities, cleaning rooms, making beds and general housekeeping jobs to keep the hostel running smoothly. You'll also have a few days holding our after-hours phone, and being a point of contact if any guests need support overnight.
We also offer additional hours helping with our events program and leading activities for our guests to meet, interact and make new friends through. We can also help in running your own event if you've got a great idea you'd like to put on!
Experience in these areas is an advantage, but full training will be provided to the successful applicant. We offer subsidized accommodation in our staff flat on-site, equipped with its own lounge, kitchen, bathroom and free laundry use.
An ideal candidate will be:
- Able to work as part of a team comfortably in a fast paced environment,
- Have excellent customer service skills,
- Able to work independently and take initiative,
- Have a good eye for detail and organizational skills,
- Have some previous experience housekeeping, but full training will be provided,
- Experience working in a customer-facing role, with accommodation experience a bonus,
- Able to commit for 3 or more months,
- Have a valid working holiday/work visa, bank account and IRD number.
