We’re looking for an experienced forklift operator to join a high-performing potato operation based in Rakaia. This role is perfect for a backpacker or local who thrives in a fast-paced packhouse environment and can confidently operate in a busy yard during peak season.
About the Role
About the Role You’ll be working in a modern, high-volume grading and storage facility for an award-winning Canterbury crop and seed producer, right in the middle of harvest. This is not an entry-level role — you’ll need to be confident on the forks, switched on, and capable of keeping up with a busy operation already in full swing.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Weekend work and longer hours during peak harvest
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operating forklifts in a busy grading shed and yard environment
- Moving, stacking, and tipping potato bins efficiently and safely
- Loading and unloading trucks and trailers
- Keeping product flowing through grading machinery without delays
- Managing bin movements across yard and cool store areas
- Supporting overall efficiency during peak harvest
What You’ll Bring
- Proven forklift experience in a busy packhouse or high-volume environment (essential)
- F endorsement preferred
- Strong awareness of safety in fast-paced, tight spaces
- Ability to work under pressure and keep things moving
- Reliability and commitment through to season end (early June)
- Team player with a positive attitude and good sense of humour
