OMC Summer Chef – Fixed Term – November Start

Old Mill Waterfront Café, Tairua, Coromandel is looking for an experienced chef to work mainly dayshifts in the café.  We have a great cabinet selection as well as a fresh seasonal menu, so the role involves short order cooking as well as some baking in the not so busy times.  We are a happy, focused team with a passion for good food and drink.  Our seating capacity is 50+ inside and out.  Experience in a similar style cafe is preferable.

We are wanting to grow our business through great service and a great reputation to follow. We are looking for someone with a similar work ethic and style that is happy to jump in and help others in the team, that can offer flexibility yet still have high standards and efficiency.  Our shifts are mainly day work, which includes weekends.  The cafe's hours are currently Wednesday to Sunday 8.30am to 2.30pm, so still plenty of time to enjoy our beaches and see the area.  These hours will expand over the peak of summer.  We also cater private functions and themed evening dinners so there may be evening work. We offer a consistent roster with the opportunity to pick up extra shifts over the busy summer period.  We will be closed from Monday 22nd Dec to Friday 26th Dec to allow our staff to have time with their family and friends before the summer madness hits.

It is essential that the applicant be fluent in speaking English, and pride in their presentation and personal hygiene, have great knowledge of food hygiene and safe food practices.  Must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, calm under pressure with attention to detail and understand great customer service – summer is nearly here, and the Coromandel is where half of the North Island come for their summer holidays.
